If you enlist in the Navy, can you take classes to learn a language?
I know that the Navy has a career in linguistics, but I was just wondering if my career was in something like computers, then can I still take some language courses? I’d love to learn another language, but can you if your specialty isn’t going to be languages? Or would I have to hope that there’s an online class for it or classes at whatever community college is near where I’m stationed?
I have a choice to do the following basic courses through learn while you work principle. PHP or Java?
I already have some html and slight designing knowledge, but my preference would be programming. Which of these languages can I pursue by learning as I go and which one is the best to have?
Studying abroad in Italy next month – how hard will it be to learn the language?
I will be studying abroad in Italy next month. I’ve been studying Italian and I learn languages well, but I’m not anywhere near fluent. I’m going there for the purpose of learning Italian, of course -but will it be really hard to understand people? I mean, it’ll be terrible if I get there and I can’t understand a thing people say to me!
Anything else anybody can tell me about studying abroad in Italy, it would be greaaaatly appreciated!!
Thanks.
Any language learning courses/websites that are NOT travel based?
I’m trying to learn a few languages: Hindi, Portuguese, Lithuanian, and Swahili. But I’m NOT interested in travelling. I don’t need to know phrases like: "My hotel room is too cold". I have searched all over the place, but I can’t find a good language course/website that doesn’t focus on travel. Please help me!
What is the easiest way to learn Greek?
I am American, knowing only little bits and pieces of quite a few languages, yet I want to actually learn Greek, yet every course online sucks. Any other online courses I can use?
Courses I have tried are:
Kypros.org
Byki
Live Mocha
the iPhone app "Wordpower"
and I believe a few others.
Are there any free online courses?
Looking for any resources….
Buisness/languages/anything..
I will decide within my options.
Easiest way to learn French or Spanish? The best courses such as Rosetta Stone, etc. ?
Just wondering if anyone has had experience in learning a new language, particularly the ones I mentioned, and if so, what are the best courses I could start out with? I don’t plan on only working with courses, I will eventually and hopefully move onto more technical ways of learning.
I have always heard that the BEST course, although expensive, is Rosetta Stone. True?
Also, I like the sound of the languages I mentioned, and they seem to be pretty useful and commonly spoken. But are these easy to "master" as a beginner? What would be, in your opinion, the easiest?
I am 20 years old, and although I suppose that is considered old for learning a new language, I would really like to broaden my horizons by taking on something likes this. How much harder do you think it will be for me? Any advice? Thanks!
Are there any online, foreign language learning courses that are free and effective?
I am interested in learning several languages (including Korean and Chinese), but the better-known language courses can be expensive. I’m really hoping there are respectable and helpful sites that are available to the public. . .
Do any courses exist to learn to Maltese language?
I’ve always found Maltese a facinating language, it’s like the ultimate mix of languages. It’s grammatical basis is Arabic, a lot of it’s vocabulary is Italian and it’s written in the Latin alphabet. Thing is, there seems to be virtually no courses I can find in the language. It may be a bit strange to learn Maltese, but I guess quite a few people learn Icelandic and 200,000 more people speak Maltese than Icelandic
.
Any advice on where to start, or do you know of any courses?
Thanks
